New TA Position at QUEST

Congrats to Lisa Scottow. She is becoming a new TA at QUEST, in charge of the Learning Lab.

The Learning Lab TA is a TA that is assigned to support RTI based interventions as needed, in a more individualized way. This will take place out of the library. For example, say a child needs an intervention where they get daily sight words...this person, through our RtI process, would support that work.

In order to also support the library, these interventions will take place in the library. In addition, this person will be able to offer some reading focused groups and book clubs out of the library!

Go QUEST, and Congrats to Lisa!

Happy Father's Day!

To our QUEST Dads, wishing you relaxation and fun this weekend!

Specials Schedule

The link for the schedule for next year is below. We’ve started adding some intervention times on the second page. More to come as summer comes.

There are some changes that had to be made, so look closely. Please remember this remains flexible throughout the summer should anything need to change! Do not communicate this to parents or spend any time on laminating special schedules YET! ðŸ˜Š

Please note that this is a work in progress. Not all links are active, especially if it specifies 2022-2023. These will be updated this summer. Is something missing? Supply Order Reminder

Classroom Teaching Staff,

As you know, we are embarking on a new world of buying supplies for the students—no supply lists this year! Any shift can be tricky, but this will be most difficult for Paula. She is going to be ordering and organizing all the supplies when they arrive, with the plan to order on July 1 so it leaves plenty of time for them to come. The goal is that you will have a box of supplies in your classroom by summer day.

Your to do:

-Find your name on the spreadsheet—levels are a tab at the bottom.
-Where it says item, begin listing specific items (you can add a link there too if you have a specific place to order it from). The more specific, the better.
-Under your name, and in the same row that the item was listed, list the number of that item you would like.
-If a colleague is getting something that you, also, would like, please don’t add a second link. Just include how many you want of that item under your name in the same row as the item.
-We are being given 25 per student. Our orders for our classes should not go above that, and any extra money the level doesn’t use will be given to your level and placed in your supply cabinet line for additional funds to be used until accounts are frozen around January.
-Students will not be given backpacks and lunch boxes unless there is a need. Reach out to Val if there is a need that you know of for this.
-You may tell students to bring in headphones, however, please also say that “if you need support with acquiring this item, please reach out!”
-Tissues will be provided from the district.

Link to place your order: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ImhKxO4sqGXNDPT2eFLosUE-4KIKPiEDJmwyvWiaYjQ/edit?usp=sharing

IF you need me to walk you through how to use the spreadsheet to order, please watch the video: https://watch.screencastify.com/v/W9SVOoP8BEATCuYroHAx

If you still need further support, stop down to see Derek.

Summer Hours!

Beginning July 6, 2022 and running through September 2, 2022 custodial staff hours will change to Monday thru Friday 6:30am to 10:30pm. Hours for staff access to buildings will also change during this time to Monday thru Friday 7am to 7pm with the exception of approved building use requests.

A Reminder from the Office of Technology

In September, for all district employees, we implemented multi-factor authentication on our District's Microsoft @hilton.k12.ny.us accounts. As we continue to evaluate potential changes to increase our cybersecurity, we have determined that our next step is to implement multi-factor authentication on staff member Google accounts, @ga.hiltoncsd.net.

A quick walk through on how to set up this feature is here. Just as your Microsoft account multi-factor authentication is set-up, it will require a phone number for you to receive a code at by voice or text message. Alternatively, if you are logged into your Google ga.hiltoncsd.net account on an eligible phone, you may choose push notification Google prompts as your multi-factor authentication method. More on the Google prompts option can be seen here, including directions for both Apple and Android phones. Again, this method is an option but not required. You may choose to use the code by voice or text message method outlined above.

You may complete this process at any time leading up June 3. This feature will be active on Friday, June 3, 2022, for all employees. If you haven't gone through the process on your account outlined in the video prior to June 3, you will need to go through the process on June 3 when you access your Google account.

Last year, key executives from technology companies noted that multifactor authentication can help prevent 80 to 90 percent of cyberattacks (EdTech: Focus on K-12 article May 2022). Thank you for taking the necessary steps to help protect our district, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.Kristy Shafer
