Stand
Team,
There is tremendous power in WE, and one of the greatest assets of our school is our willingness to stand for things beyond ourselves...to stand for what is right. What/what can you stand by, or for, this weekend?
Thank you for all you are doing for our kids, for our families, and for one another. Enjoy the song.
Proud to be on this journey with you.

etc… Don’t worry that these learning opportunities won’t be included in the 3rd

Student Item Drop-Off
Team,
Thanks for the feedback regarding item drop off. Based on the feedback, I believe it is in our best interest to collect items from students at the end of the year as compared to next year given the amount of goodies we have shared with the homes. I have received Dr. K approval to do something different than the other two elementary schools, and I'll be in touch once I have dates cemented.
What would this look like?
We will have a window where parents can drop off items, in a labeled bag, to the security desk. In the cafe we will have a table for each teacher. The bags of stuff will be placed on the tables for each class until we can open and sanitize the items over the summer--I will do the sanitizing for you so you can simply collect your items and take to your room when we return.
Once I communicate with parents, I will let you know. At that time, you can share with them any specific items you shared out that should be returned.
Thanks again!
Derek

Need-to-Know
From Derek:
- · Keeping you in the loop—we are interviewing for the K-2 consultant teacher next week (all day Monday and Friday). Once we find the right person and are able to get BOE approval for their hiring, we will be sure to share it out. Other openings will be hired for over the summer months.
- · Class lists will be emailed to each classroom teacher on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. They will be confidential at that point, but will be sent to homes on Friday, June 12th.
- · For graduation, the intermediate teachers and I will be stopping outside each home to provide the graduates with certificates and gifts from our PTSO. Then, on the last day, each teacher will be showing a graduation video. The schedule for the home visit celebrations are as follows: Friday, 6/12: Butlin 9-12, Carpenter 12:30-3:30; Monday, 6/15: Moore/Steger, 9-12, Velyk, 12:30-3 ; Tuesday, 6/16: Gibbs, 9-12, Tracey 12:30-3:30
- Wednesday, 6/17: show graduation video with class. If you have a desire to ride along for the few hours for a buddy class, or because you support the class, we will be meeting at the start of each time at QUEST to follow one another. For example, For Moore/Steger we are meeting at 9 at QUEST on 3/15 and then traveling to each grads home to cheer them on and give them a goodbye and thank you.

Need-to-Know 5/21/20
- Just another reminder: No instruction Monday for Memorial Day, and Friday (tomorrow) I would encourage you to go light and have high independence tasks.
A Note from Andrea:
-
QUEST! The big week for Grads is almost here! Virtual QUEST PYP Exhibition will take place Tuesday, May 26th through Friday, May 29th.Friends, I am encouraging you, as a school community, to view as many as you can. Our children have put in enormous amounts of effort and have persevered under the most difficult circumstances. Having a large audience is a way for us to show how proud we are of them and honor their work. The presentation formats vary widely; some are videos, some are live Zooms, websites, the list goes on.Classroom teachers, you can use the board how you wish. I would suggest sharing it with kids and families, and have them choose a few to view each day. You could also assign it comfortably as a valuable part of “viewing” ELA standards. :) You could also have them choose one a day and reflect in writing or verbally. Whatever you choose! The Invitation and Exhibition Schedule with links will be ready to share on Friday morning. I also made an Exhibition video that I’ll be including. I shed tears each time I edit because the situation is heartbreaking for our kids. But also because I’m overjoyed with pride of who they have become. As a school, we continue to innovate and create new, memorable, and sometimes beautiful experiences for them, despite... And they continue to learn and rise to meet our expectations. Thanks for all the support. We are QUEST. ❤️
From Casey:I hope you and your family are safe and healthy. Thanks for all you are doing for our students. We don’t know when the time will come, but we will reopen school to students at some point. As we finish up this academic year, we are seeking your input as we develop our reopening plan for when the time comes. Please take the time to share your input at the following link. If you have any questions, please let me know. Have a good day.https://my.thoughtexchange.com/234541611

Need-to-Know for 5/8/20
- Parents will receive an email on Monday informing them about narrative based reports from the teacher, and they will also receive instructions/a sign up for the week of 5/18/20 to enter to the building to collect belongings.
- Speaking of collecting belongings, each classroom will have a table placed outside of it. On that table, we will have any bagged items found within the classroom. As parents come, there are three things they are allowed to do: grab their child's bag from the table, get items from their child's locker, and grab their instrument from the stage. Parents will not be allowed to go anywhere else. In addition, we are not asking them to turn things in at this point since we still have a month+ of school left. We will have a collection day after school is out where they will place anything they borrowed from a teacher, or from the school, in a labeled box so it can sit and become germ free.
- Don't forget to utlize choice boards! An email was shared yesterday with all the weekly options.
