We had a great time on 7/19 watching kids get books in their hands. This is what a community of readers is all about.

Summer Picture?
Challenge:
Take a picture of a favorite summer activity that you were part of this summer and send it electronically to Derek and Hannah before August 24th. We would love to hear/see what you all have been up to.
**Please note, the picture will be added to a welcome back video!

Blog...under construction
Team,
The purpose of this blog is to serve as a one-stop-shop for school-wide communication. This tool will be used at full throttle starting in the fall. Each week during the school year, you will get an email that reads:
The blog has been updated.
Link: http://ouronequest.blogspot.com/
If there is an urgent email or an email that can't wait for the weekly blog, I will still send that out, but the blog serves much like the bulletin in that its purpose is to provide clear communication, plenty of celebration, and potential professional learning (linked articles, book recommendations, etc.).

A few things to notice:
- There is a section called "Caught Throwing Fish." In the fall, Hannah will send out a weekly email that says "please send anything you would like included in the blog to me by _______." If you noticed a colleague doing incredible work, bringing FISH to life, or they just deserve a thank you, you would email your short note to Hannah and she would include in that section.
- At the top there are relevant links...links that hopefully matter to you and can be used at your convenience. This part is under construction, and I will add the Wiki and other sites that are valuable to you as I learn more about QUEST and the needs.
- If you aren't on Twitter, you can still see what the district Twitter account is sending out to all. I follow them through the blog, so there is a thread that follows all their tweets.
- There is a section where I share a book or an article. This may be bi-weekly. There is no expectation that you read it, or go and grab the book, but it is there to remind us that we are learners and students, first. Ongoing growth as professionals is an important responsibility and provides us with continued job engagement--ever feel a burst of passion after reading a professional article or book? If you have a suggestion, an article to share with the staff, or a book you love that others should read, please share with Hannah, or me, and we will add to this section.
- The middle thread is where Andrea or I, or really anyone that has something all should hear, can write. Sometimes there will be videos; sometimes there will be pictures; sometimes there will be writing...it can vary, including its purpose (bus duty reminders as well!), but it is worth reading and looking at each week.
I recognize that this is a change from the normal bulletin, and change can feel weird at first, but I hope you find it useful and a strong communication tool.
Thanks again for all you do. Have a fabulous summer filled with relaxation, family, and friends.
Be well,
Derek
