Weekly Update

 Team,

Please take the time to view the Cadet Chat video(it is long). This highlights many of the questions that you likely have. In addition, I will be more than happy to meet with levels after break--keep in mind that this is optional. Please use the point person to schedule a level meeting with me if your team wishes to process the changes together. In addition, our district will be hosting a staff forum in the near future which will help with many of the logistical questions that you might have. Much of what we do will be district based, but we can certainly get creative in some instances.

We invite you to spend a few short minutes watching our show each month to gain tips, tricks, ideas, and strategies that all teachers can use regardless of their technology skill level. Our fourth episode features our favorite recent updates to your favorite tools.

Did you know Google Classroom limits you to 100 topics?

If you use topics to organize your Google Classroom, which I recommend you do, you might be running out of topics soon.  Google Classroom limits you to 100 topics per Google Classroom.  So, what can you do?  Deleting topics to gain back more will delete the topic, but not the assignments under the topic. Therefore the assignments will no longer be under a topic and will appear at the topic in a big mess.  The best solution is to create a new Google Classroom and archive your old one.  The best way to get older students in a new Google Classroom is to make your last assignment in your old Google Classroom a link to your new one.  For younger students you can type their name in the people section and invite them.

In addition to gaining you 100 more topics, creating a new Google Classroom every 10-20 weeks will also

  1.  Help your Google Classroom be less cluttered and more organized.
  2. Give your students a sense of renewal, as they will not be staring at old incomplete assignments.
  3. Give you more originality reports.

When you archive your old Google Classroom, it will take it off your main screen and put it in the archived section, where you and your students will still be able to see and reuse assignments.
