Thank You!
I recognize that having a due date for progress reports is new, however, I appreciate you getting them all done so that they can be uploaded digitally. The silver lining? A huge item off the check-list so now you can fully enjoy your last week with kids! Thank you for all your extra hard work!
Next Week
Next week is meant to be a week of celebration and connection, and we will be as busy as ever as a school. Some reminders or need-to-knows:
- Please make sure you take a glance at the emails from Andrea about Exhibition and the document (second one) regarding the day's schedule. It's a tight schedule.
- We will not get our yearbooks until Monday, unfortunately. We will have yearbook signing from 11-11:20 on Wednesday.

Happy Anniversary...and Thank You!
QUEST,
Last year on June 15th I started as your Principal, and this year has been more than I expected. Working with you all is fun, exciting, and an absolute source of pride for me. I can't thank you enough for the impact you've all had on me both personally and professionally. I think I also speak for Hannah in saying that you've made both of us feel right at home. Thank you!
Please do me a favor...join me in celebrating by keeping our hallways dry (no floods) and the deer away from our kids!

Last Day Shenanigans
On the last day of school, please swing by the main office in the am and grab a lei. Wear it with a smile on your face--not because it is summer, but because we won this year...together.
At 12:05 the retirement bus will be picking up any retirees in the front. Please join us in the front of the school. Feel free to place your lei on the retirees and give them a positive send-off.

Exhibition Actions
Our QUEST Grads have thought of many amazing ways to take action this year! A few kids really needed to utilize service and philanthropy in order to make real change. Could you please post these in your newsletters or share in an email? Hopefully the kids can also get around to morning meetings this week to share reminders. Here is what you can copy and paste!
Our QUEST Grads are completing their Exhibition. They have thought of many amazing ways to take action this year! A few kids really need to utilize philanthropy in order to make real change. Can you support them by sending in some items for their donations? See below. Thank you!
- Olivia and Brooke are taking action to help the homeless. Part of their action focuses on collecting items for Wilson Commencement Park, an organization that provides a home and family services for two years until the homeless family is back on their feet. We are collecting gently used recreation gear and new cleaning supplies. There is a bin by the main entrance and the QUEST entrance.
- Joshua S. is concerned about how immigration laws impact people. He is collecting school supplies for children in Cuba that don’t have a lot of money. Please send in NEW school supplies if you would like to support Joshua’s action. The bins are located by the student and parking lot entrances

The Finish Line Myth
I recently stumbled upon a poem, or quote of sorts, that spoke about the idea of waiting to be happy until the next "thing" arrives.
- I'll be happy when I get married.
- I'll be happy when it is summer break.
- I'll be happy when I get a new job.
- I'll be happy when I have a child.
- I'll be happy when my children are on their own.
- I'll be happy when I retire.
- I'll be happy when I move...
Have you ever caught yourself in that mindset? How about during the month of June as educators? It is so easy to delay our happiness and to think that the next stage, the next new thing, or the next step of life, will make us happier--in some ways it can give us an initial jolt of happiness. But happiness is much more complex than that; happiness is a choice that we each have to make. Every.Single.Day.
Why am I writing about happiness?
I recently caught myself reflecting on the year: my mistakes, my shortcomings, the obstacles that are holding me back both personally/professionally; in doing so, I started to think about the patterns of life and how there have been so many times where it has been easy to get caught in the "once this happens i'll be happy" mindset.
QUEST, dare to be different. If we are going to be mindful, the sum of all of us needs to be about people who enjoy the work, no matter the month or stress around us. Don't delay happiness, but instead let's find it in the moment.
As we close out a busy and tiresome month, let's take plenty of time to stop and notice. Notice one another. Notice the growth our learners made. Notice how far we have come as a school community by working together. Just notice. Through that noticing, I hope you find contentment and a sense of satisfaction in a year that we totally won...together!

For your newsletter...
Please add the following blurb to your parent newsletter:
Families,
It is with much excitement that we are announcing that next year’s fundraiser will be a Fun Run! I am looking for two parent volunteers from our classroom to help with this event. These individuals will be responsible for keeping our class up to date on all things regarding the fundraiser. If you are interested in being one of our lead cheerleaders please email Jill Warner at J.warner@jldental.com. A few hours of your time will help your child's school significantly.
