Mindful Monday
Thank you to
everyone who participated in the Mindfulness Interest Survey. If you didn't get
a chance to, no worries! You are still welcome to join this optional Mindful Monday
Group. It is open to all QUEST staff members, so feel free to bring a friend
along.
We will begin the 10 minutes (practice and a tip) right at 8:20am/3:50pm on alternating Mondays in Christy's UPK Room 22.

Behavioral Supports @ QUEST
Last year, there were times where a student would get sent to the office and we weren't able to fully address the teaching that needs to occur with that mistake due to the demands on the main office on any given day. We are a teaching organization, and how we approach student's when they make a mistake should align with that. With that, new this year is our wonderful new colleague, Jamie! It is important to note that there are three reasons a child might see Jamie:
1) A student makes a mistake that results with a trip to the office.
2) The child has a behavioral support plan and, as part of the plan, has a planned break. Or no plan in place but is in distress and could benefit from some breaks throughout the day.

3) The child needs to take a break from the room that is unplanned. Child needs a restart.
It is important to note that in all three scenarios, the visit to Jamie goes through the main office. Jamie is here to support the next step and the teaching, or when the child is serving a consequence.
As always, don't hesitate to come chat if you have any questions as this is a new process and can obviously be different at first. More importantly, thanks for all those things you do proactively to teach positive behavior and to reach the whole child.

First Week
There's tired, and then there is first-week-of-school tired. Thank you so much for bringing your A-game, being there, making it fun for kids, and going all-in this week. Everywhere I went I noticed happy kids, and this is a direct reflection on the work of the staff. Thank you!
Rest up, enjoy your weekend, and know that you make a difference.
Need-to-Knows
- Next week, level meetings will be rolling. Like last year, each team has a link on the top of the blog.
- Please be prepared for Evacuation Drills as they will begin next week. As a reminder, we did not use NaviGate for these as we used it for Lockdowns.
- Speaking of drills, please make sure you have all emergency plans for your room in in case you were to have a sub. I sent out the general template last year, so please use the same one. If you need help locating it, I can find a copy for you--just ask. :)
- At the top of the blog is a link for Admin. Team. If there is a topic that needs to be discussed there, please type it in using that link. We will form our agendas based on items that are there each time. Topics for meetings will be driven by the requests.
- We had all hands on deck at bus duty this past week. Thank you! Next week we will be doing out weekly bus duty rotation. Please note that those in the pm, we'd like two walkies out there this year (the two end caps should have it).

A Note about the Lab
Our lab looks different this year, and in December it will be flipped and become a flexible space for all. The tech. committee last year sent out a survey and decided that we would shift to Chromebooks--there are 25 Chromebooks in the lab that should remain there and not be signed out.
Guidelines:
-Please keep computer lab Chromebooks in the lab.
-Please plug in Chromebooks upon return to cart.
-Please no removal of Chromebooks to your classroom.
-Please note and report any broken items.
