RtI (IST) Sign Up/Referral Process

All,

This year, we are organizing our RtI process a bit differently with the goal of getting people in quicker and more seamlessly. When you fill out a referral--see picture below, found on blog--you will also be prompted to pick an available time based on what is available. Once you select a time, that time gets removed so you can't double book. This then gets pushed right to Lisa's calendar, and someone will be sending out a reminder. We plan on having meetings on Mondays, during the day, and getting a sub that can float. You will notice many available times when you first fill out the referral.

In addition, you will see a question asking you who should be at the meeting. Please select anyone that might be needed to support the concern you are hoping to tackle. You may choose to invite parents if you feel it is needed, but there are times where we don't have to have parents; however, as the classroom teacher we would respectfully ask that you be in contact with the parents about your concerns, invite them if needed, and communicate the plan of action with them after the fact so that there are no surprises.

When you come to the meeting:

  • all who were requested should be there;
  • we will work as a group to brainstorm and create an action plan;
  • this action plan should be sent to you at the conclusion;
  • a follow-up meeting will be set then and there, as needed.

Please note: this year we will be having a cutoff with new referrals, which is similar to other buildings. We prefer not to see new referrals during the months of May and June as we hopefully would have already addressed the concern earlier. With that, there are exceptions to every rule, so if there is ever a need for an emergency meeting outside of that window, or a meeting that falls outside of the prescribed times, please contact Lisa and we will find a way to support your concern.

Supporting every student every day is tough work, and something that this school takes seriously. Thank you for caring so deeply for our kids, and thank you in advance for the collaboration that goes into finding what works for each child. In addition, thank you to Lisa and Jason for finding a way to use technology to help streamline the sign-up process.
